This Valentine's Day, we have an opportunity to show our community what love in action looks like.

Families across Los Angeles are facing an unprecedented crisis. Since last summer, more than 10,000 people in L.A. have been arrested under expanded immigration enforcement actionsβ€”most of them breadwinners supporting entire families. Documented cases show people being stopped and detained based on appearance alone, regardless of immigration status. Fear of arrests near food pantries, churches, and distribution sites is keeping families from accessing basic necessities. People are sheltering in place, too afraid to buy groceries.

But we can help.

TWO WAYS TO PARTICIPATE:

1. DONATE PANTRY ITEMS FOR DOORSTEP PICKUP - Anywhere in LA Set unopened food donations outside your door on Saturday, February 14th and we'll pick them up to deliver directly to families in need. Sign up to have a driver come to you at fooddrivela.com

2. IN-PERSON DONATION AND COMMUNITY HANG - Join us in person! Saturday, February 14th, starting at 9am Bring your donations and stay for: β€’ Food + Drinks β€’ Art Making Station β€’ Community Trainings β€’ Birthday Celebrations β€’ Connect with neighbors and friends!

Last fall, our community came together for a citywide food drive in response to threatened SNAP benefit cuts. We generated over 6,500 pounds of food that was immediately redistributed to neighbors who needed it. We can do this again.

This food drive your donations support:

National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON), a U.S. organization founded in 2001 that unites worker centers to improve lives of day laborers, migrants, and low-wage workers. It builds leadership, defends labor/civil rights, combats wage theft, and resists anti-immigrant policies, including ICE raids.

IDEPSCA + Mujeres en AcciΓ³n, an organization focused on education and organizing day labors. Read this recent LATimes article on the violent action inflicted by ICE at the IDEPSCA

Community Power Collective (CPC) - is a member-led organization in Boyle Heights and greater Los Angeles that builds power for street vendors. Recently CPC was part of a coalition that spearheaded the L.A. Street Vendor Solidarity Fund.

UNIDOS en Lynwood - grassroots mutual aid and rapid response community of Lynwood Residents uniting against the immigration raids. Directly support their efforts via GoFundMe.

We are also coordinating this in collaboration with Polo's Pantry. Polo’s and YP2F have been in partnership for years, and Melissa and Robin’s friendship goes back to 2019. This drive marks our ongoing solidarity in addressing hte intersection of youth homelessness and food access the collective fight to build a better Los Angeles from the community up.

This is a grassroots effort coordinated with CD13, and every contribution mattersβ€”whether you donate from your doorstep or join us in person.
